This Week's Review and Giveaway:
Flirty Aprons
When Flirty Aprons sent me an apron to review, I was pretty excited. Not that I don't already own a few aprons. I do. Three. But, to be honest, I never wear them unless major greasy cooking is involved. And in my house, that is a minimal occurance.
You see, my aprons are boring. I have one that is white and frilly with eyelet ribbon details around the borders. My mom gave it to me, so there is a sentimental attachment to it. Also, it is so pristine, crisp and new that I am afraid to get a single spot on it and therefore, I don't use it. My second apron, also white with the Pacific Culinary Academy logo on it, (no, I didn't go there...) makes me feel somewhat professional when I am cooking and when I actually remember to put it on. And lastly, I have a third apron which is, yup, you guessed it, white and white. It has no logos, no frills, no pockets, nothing. Blah...
When my apron from Flirty Aprons arrived at my door, I was giddy. It's bright, it's cheerful and it has just the right amount of frill...enough to make you feel feminine without feeling ridiculous. I loved the colour scheme, pattern and design of the apron and I instantly wanted to put it on (and I wasn't even cooking!)So what about durability? Well, I've been wearing my apron all week now, not only while I cook but also when I have to clean the house. Since I am the sensitive type, I love the feel of the soft, double layered fabric on my skin. The stitching is very tight, no loose threads here, and with the extra long tie backs, I like how the "one size fits all" design allows the apron to not only fit a variety of shapes and sizes but to be comfortable too. I've also had to wash my apron due to the "tomato sauce incident" (don't ask) and from making cookies with the kids. Other than needing a quick iron from not getting it out of the dryer right away, it looks as new as it did when I received it.
Not only do I enjoy wearing my apron, I think others would too. I'm thinking that my mom, mother in law, sister in law, nieces and few foodie friends of mine will be getting their own Flirty Aprons for birthday and Christmas gifts this year. I even have a few guy cooks that I think would appreciate the Men's Aprons. I also love how you can get matching aprons for the little cooks in your life. The Children's Aprons are especially cute and I could just imagine purchasing a matching set for myself and my daughter, if I had one. I did check out the site for boys aprons and nothing yet, which was a bit of a disappointment but hopefully soon. _____________________________________________________________________________
